How It Works
Three ways in. None of them require knowing anything about tattoos yet.
Text us your ideaEscríbenos tu ideaWalk in
Come by during shop hours. If an artist is free, you can get tattooed the same day; smaller pieces work best this way. More on walk-ins.
Book ahead
Text the shop your idea, where on your body, and roughly how big. They'll talk it through with you and set a time.
Flash days
Event days with sheets of ready-to-go designs. Come early; it's first arrived, first tattooed. Flash and walk-in dates.
Your first tattoo
- Bring ID. You must be 18 or older with valid photo ID. That's California law; there are no exceptions, parental consent included.
- Eat first, come sober. A real meal an hour or two before helps more than anything else you can do. Alcohol thins blood and makes the whole session harder on you; save the celebration for after.
- Plan the day loose. Sessions take as long as they take; nobody good rushes ink.
- It hurts less than the internet says. Most people describe a scratching burn that fades into background noise. You can ask for a breather any time; the artists here are known for exactly that patience. And if you're nervous, say so; walking someone through their first tattoo is normal work in this shop.
- Want to bring someone? Ask when you text. It's a working shop and space depends on the day, so the honest answer is: say you'd like company and they'll tell you what works.
- You can start smaller than your big idea. Flash pieces exist exactly for that. The big idea keeps, and a small first piece teaches you how your skin and your nerves handle the chair.
- Wear the right clothes. Something comfortable that gives easy access to the spot you are getting tattooed, and that you do not mind getting a little ink on.
- Plan for the healing window. Expect two to three weeks of simple daily aftercare while the skin closes up. The full guide is one tap away.

The clean part
Every artist tattooing at La Rosa is a licensed practitioner on the San Francisco Department of Public Health registry. Single-use needles, sealed setups, and a room their own reviews keep calling clean and bright.
Roco, the owner, was easy to work with to design my tattoo. The store is clean and bright

What it costs
Pricing depends on size, placement, and detail. The shop gives you the number before anything starts, and nothing begins until you say yes.
Cover-ups
Covering an old piece starts with a photo. Text a picture of the existing tattoo with your idea, and the shop tells you straight what the piece can carry and what it would take.
